what is a therapeutic art session?

A Therapeutic In-Home / On-Premise Art session stimulates the mind, body, and soul. Leveraging the creative mind to explore the imagination, while patiently managing the strokes of a paintbrush, our clients find peace and meaning within the exercise.  OBTA Care is fortunate to have an extremely talented artist lead our creative-care department.  As a certified art teacher (BA - Lesley University), who has spent a lifetime teaching and practicing art, Brigette is thrilled to share her knowledge and technique with artists of all skill levels. Our clients appreciate the opportunity to learn (or enhance) a new skill, and look forward to creating each new project. We can provide the art supplies (H-Art Box - separate purchase), or we can work with yours. Our supply box consists of colored pencils, paint brushes, canvas, and an easel.

WHAT DOES OBTA MEAN?

OBTA (pronounced: ˈäbˌdə) is simply the first initial of each member of our family. OBTA is truly a family business!

how do you select your caregivers?

Very, very carefully. OBTA Care is a family-run business and each member of our team must undergo a rigorous background and reference check, before joining our 'work-family'.

How often should i schedule services?

Great question! This varies for each of our clients, and is dependent on your specific needs. Many of our clients request several hours per day of companion-care, while others only need several hours per week. OBTA Care has packages and pricing to meet the needs of any and all of our clients. We are here when you need us.

Is a contract required?

The State of CT Department of Consumer Protection requires a contract for all non-medical home-care agencies. The contract is required to establish a clear understanding of the scope of work to be provided. The contract may be cancelled at any time.

How much do services cost?

OBTA Care rates are very competitive, starting at just $25 per hour. Please CONTACT US to discuss your needs and our rates in greater detail.

We appreciate the difficult decisions many of our clients have to make when forced to consider a nursing home or an assisted living facility. The costs associated with private-pay nursing homes continue to rise ($66,000+ per year for assisted living, or $146,000 for a semi-private room in a nursing home according to Genworth's Cost of Care Survey 2015), and many of our clients are not ready to make that step financially or, more importantly, mentally. Many of our clients are not ready to give up their homes, the life they know, and their freedom. As such, they rely on OBTA Care for assistance and assurance in the comfort of their own home.

Does Insurance pay for obta care services?

Private-pay via check or credit card is the most common form of payment for most of our clients. That being said, we encourage you to check with your insurance provider to better understand your coverage, and/or Long-Term Care. If you have any questions, or would like to discuss in more detail, please Contact US

Additionally, the State of CT offers a program called Connecticut Home Care Program for Elders (CHCPE) which may help cover costs.

If you have served in the military, please visit veteranaid.org to explore options as well.

is obta care licensed & insured?

Absolutely.

what is your service area?

OBTA Care is proud to serve all residents in the State of Connecticut.

how do i pay for services?

Check and credit card are the most common forms of payment.

Is there a service minimum?

OBTA Care has a 2 hour service minimum.

why should i hire you, rather than place an ad in the paper?

OBTA Care carefully chooses each and every member of the team. Complete with a thorough interview process as well as a background, criminal, and reference check. OBTA Care is fully licensed and insured and complies with all law and regulations.

Many people that hire an individual for in-home care services do not realize that hiring that worker comes with extreme liability. For example, workers compensation and unemployment are the responsibility of the employer. If you are not contracted with a home care company for services, that means - YOU!

Is there anything else that I need to know?

There are many in-home care providers to choose from, and extremely careful and thorough consideration of your in-home care provider is a must!  This is a partnership that should last a lifetime. As you examine your options, make sure to review a copy of the state issued agency license, and understand the insurance coverages (including workers compensation and general liability).  Sadly, there are some companies out there that do not have the proper insurance coverages, or state issued licenses, and place extreme liability on the clients they serve.

OBTA Care wants you and/or your loved ones to be comfortable, safe, peaceful, and independent in the home in which you live. OBTA Care provides exceptional non-medical companion-care and homemaker services to clients that are elderly, busy parents / postpartum, disabled, military families, and those recovering from injury. We look forward to serving you, and building a meaningful relationship that will last a lifetime.
